Generally, the U.S. House of Representatives, is considered the people’s house. Every U.S. citizen is represented by one House member. Each state, has two Senators. Originally, each state government selected the two Senators. Now, citizens of each state elect them.

It is considered that Senators represent the states, while the House Representatives represent the people. There are certain things, only each chamber can do. Only the House can impeach the President. But only the Senate can put him on trial. The Senate also approves Supreme Court justices, nominated by the President. Also the Senate must approve treaties the U.S. enters into. All laws regarding taxation, must originate in the House, pass the House, then the Senate, and be signed by the President.

Any laws passed by the House, Senate and signed by the President, are subject to constitutionality by the Supreme Court
